Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which will be provided at the time of booking confirmation or when you collect the vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your obligations for the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Hindley, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary by vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional charges. You need a valid driving license relevant to the vehicle category, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of address are required, along with payment information and a security deposit. Any further requirements will be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure transactions through trusted payment platforms.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties to document the state of the vehicle. Ensure that the vehicle is returned in the same condition as it was received, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as when collected; failure to do so will result in refueling charges. Late returns may lead to additional fees, so please notify us as soon as possible if you anticipate being late. You are liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You will find full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to minimize your financial exposure. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you opt for additional coverage. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms is your responsibility, irrespective of existing insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, rallying, or off-road driving, as well as transporting hazardous materials. Sub-letting to unauthorized individuals or allowing unapproved drivers is prohibited. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden, along with exceeding passenger or weight limits. Additionally, operating the vehicle outside the agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval is not allowed.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Hindley Car Hire shall not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the rental amount paid in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraudulent activities.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
10. Terms Updates
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
