Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a Rental Agreement that will be provided upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance provisions, applicable charges, and your responsibilities for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Hindley, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra fees for drivers under 25. You are required to possess a valid full driving licence suitable for the vehicle category, held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of your current address are necessary, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional conditions may also be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Hindley location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Payment in full, along with a security deposit, is generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure transactions through reliable payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, please conduct a thorough inspection and report any existing damage at that time. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and must be signed by you. It is your responsibility to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, with allowances made for regular wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charges applied as necessary. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as at pick-up; refueling fees will be charged if the level is lower. Late returns may incur additional fees, so contact us promptly if you anticipate delays. You will also be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. The Rental Agreement outlines full coverage specifics and excess amounts. Options for additional insurance may be offered to lower your financial liability. It's prudent to examine these options closely. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the specified excess, except when additional insurance applies. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse falls under your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities or purposes. Activities such as racing, off-roading, or any hazardous driving are prohibited. Transporting dangerous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is also prohibited. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, do not exceed passenger or weight limits, nor travel outside the agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to contract termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Hindley Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months, except where liability arises from negligence leading to death or personal injury, or from fraudulent activity.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
